Daughters of the American Revolution, Inc.

Lexington, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the ‘Birthplace of American Liberty’

The Lexington Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) was formed on October 19, 1895. The chapter draws its members from Lexington and its many surrounding towns. Membership is open to any woman, 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove direct descent from a man or woman who aided the cause of the American Revolutionary War.

We are a vibrant, diverse, and engaged group of women. We are descendants of 18th-century men and women who aided the cause of American independence. We honor their efforts through service in our communities in the areas of education, historic preservation, and patriotism. Our chapter honors over 150 members, ranging in age from 18 to 101. We are students, doctors, homemakers, computer experts, conservationists, nurses, educators, retirees, test pilots, writers, social workers, and much more. We are "Today's DAR"!

Our pillars of SERVICE

Patriotism

Education

Historical Preservation

We acknowledge and honor patriotism through recognition of community leaders, support of our active military, as well as honor and service to our veterans, from the American Revolution to the present!

We do our part to support education through our committees dedicated to promoting literacy, celebrating student patriotism through essay contests, supporting the DAR schools, and providing scholarships.

We preserve history by supporting preservation of local historic buildings and monuments, celebrating commemorative events, and working to preserve genealogical documents.

The Lexington Chapter is fortunate to be right at the heart of the fight for independence!
