I can't believe we're in our final quarter of the school year. It has been a full and fun year! We're wrapping up the year with state testing, field trips, vehicle day, field day and celebrating all our students have accomplished this year! We are so proud of our Shining Stars.

The mission of the School Counseling Team at Saxe Gotha Elementary is to provide every student with a comprehensive, developmental counseling program as outlined by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
Our program’s vision is to help every student be successful in his/her academic, career, and social-emotional development. We adhere to ASCA’s Ethical Standards. School Counselors collaborate with other school professionals, and the community, to ensure that all students are prepared to be 21st century learners and leaders.
☞ THE ROLE OF THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR
We follow the South Carolina Comprehensive School Counseling & Career Guidance Model to ensure the development of our students.
School counselors provide academic, career, and social-emotional services at each level pertaining to the specific developmental needs of the populations they serve. Counselors serve their students through individual sessions, small groups, and classroom lessons. All counselors hold at least a master’s degree and required state certification in school counseling. They maintain certification by participating in professional development designed to keep them current with education reform and challenges facing today’s students. Some school counselors join various professional associations to further enhance their knowledge and effectiveness.
