Explore Your Future Career Options by Job Shadowing!
Job Shadowing is a nationwide initiative that encourages professionals to provide job shadowing experience for students. Did you know that our district allows ALL high school students to job shadow once a semester? You can job shadow this semester for one day, EXCUSED!
To schedule an APPROVED job shadow, your job shadowing form must be turned in to the Counseling and Advisement Office at least 3 business days prior to the scheduled job shadow.
There is NO better way to figure out what you like to do, unless you experience it yourself! This is why job shadowing is so valuable as you explore various career options. Take time to EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS!
You are probably asking yourself....How do I begin and schedule a job shadow?
The first thing to do is think about your parents, your parents' friends, relatives, your friends' parents... Would they be willing to represent their career and allow you to job shadow them at their workplace? If so, set up a day/time and complete the form below to register/sign up. PRINT AND COMPLETE THE PARENT/TEACHER PERMISSION FORM (link below) and drop the form off in the Counseling and Advisement Office at least 3 business days prior to the scheduled job shadow.
Once your job shadow is approved, Ms. Bennett or Ms. Farrar, RBHS Career Specialists, will contact you by school email to pick up your job shadowing packet. Again...please give us at least three (3) business days to prepare your information.
If you do NOT have the job shadowing packet, you will not be excused to job shadow.
Steps to job shadow approved/excused:
1. Complete this Google form using your LEX1 login.
2. Print the Parent Permission Form from the link below.
3. Complete the Parent Permission Form and drop it off in the Counseling and Advisement Office.
4. Look for an email from Mrs. Bennett or Mrs. Farrar stating your job shadow is approved and to pick up your paperwork to take with you to job shadow.
5. After you complete your job shadow experience, return the paperwork to Mrs. Bennett or Mrs. Farrar for review within 5 days.
6. When the paperwork is completed, Mrs. Bennett or Mrs. Farrar will submit your excused absence. If you do not complete all these steps, your absences will not be excused.
Your career specialist cannot approve an absence if the process is not followed.
