Focused Note Taking is a strategy that can be used in every class so that students can more effectively take and USE their notes. We have been learning and practicing writing essential questions, taking notes, reviewing/revising the notes, connecting our thinking, summarizing our notes, and applying the learning.
AVID’s proven learning support structure, known as WICOR, incorporates teaching and learning methodologies in the critical areas of Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading. WICOR provides a learning model that educators can use to guide students in comprehending concepts and articulating ideas at increasingly complex levels. We will be focusing on different parts of WICOR in each newsletter. Be sure to ask your child about how they are using Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading in all of their classes.
