Mary Anne Deal Jenkins is the AVID Administrator at Carolina Springs Middle School. She began her career teaching at Palmetto High School (Anderson School District One) followed by Lexington Middle School (Lexington School District One) before finding a home at Carolina Springs in 2007, when the school open its doors. Mrs. Deal also teaches Spanish, facilitates ASL, teaches Leadworthy 6, sponsors the CSMS Jr. BETA Club, and is the Assistant Girls Basketball Coach for the CSMS Girls' Basketball Team. Mrs. Deal is a graduate of Anderson University (Anderson, SC) and the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC). She also studied abroad at Cemanahuac Comunidad Educativa in Cuernavaca, Mexico while attending Anderson University. Mrs. Deal is heavily involved with the Junior Chamber International (JCI) and serves in various leadership capacities. In 2021, Mrs. Deal served JCI USA as a National Vice President. In 2022, Mrs. Deal is serving as the Leadership Development Director for JCI USA. She will works with the state leaders from across the country as well as design programming and training to build leaders within the organization and community. In 2023, she will serve as the Chief of Staff of the JCI USA Executive Committee. Mrs. Deal resides in Lexington with her husband, Trey Jenkins.
Maria Fetner Canepa is the AVID Site Coordinator and teaches the AVID English 1 classes at Carolina Springs Middle School. She began her career teaching at Monroe Middle School (Union County, NC) followed by White Knoll Middle School (Lexington School District One) before finding a home at Carolina Springs in 2007, when the school opened its doors. Mrs. Canepa also teaches 8th grade ELA and English 1, is on the school Leadership Team, and is the National Board Liaison for Lexington One.
Mrs. Canepa is a graduate of Wingate University (Wingate, NC) with a BA in Psychology and Queens University (Charlotte, NC) with a Master of Arts in Teaching. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy: English Language Arts.
Mrs. Canepa resides in Lexington with her husband, Thomas Canepa, her daughters, Elizabeth (senior) and Isabella (freshman), and her dog, Dasher.
Rebecca Ussery Cagle teaches the AVID 7 & 8es Elective Class at Carolina Springs Middle School. She also teaches the Leadworthy 6, 7, & 8 classes. She began her career teaching at White Knoll Middle School (Lexington School District One) in 2002 before transferring to Carolina Springs Middle School in 2007, when the school opened its doors. Before transitioning to teach Leaderworthy and AVID, Mrs. Cagle taught Physical Education/Health for 20 years and was the Head Girls Basketball Coach for the CSMS Girls' Basketball Team for the past 15 years. Under Mrs. Cagle and her coaching staff, the CSMS Girls' Basketball team has won 2 championships! Go Huskies! Mrs. Cagle is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. Mrs. Cagle resides in West Columbia with her husband, Paul.
