UPDATE 3/25/2020- With the new closure until at least the 10th of April I am trying to streamline our reading to be mostly online if possible. In doing this and talking with other educators I have found a site that I think will fit my students' needs better than Readtheory. It is called www.kidsa-z.com. Please check out my tutorial video by clicking the link below that will walk you through the steps of how to use this site-I think you will find it much easier and more engaging for your child. We will be using this website going forward. The teacher username kids will need to use is Highland24. You will find the password information on the video tutorial listed directly below. www.loom.com/share/250427d37e814bc2a0e8ed9eb4d47b70

Assignments on https://www.kidsa-z.com/ will begin on Monday 3/30/202. Please complete one assigned book and quiz per day. If you want to challenge yourself and do more in the Level Up or the Reading Room, please feel free to do so! As always, any questions please email me.

To continue practice of skills I assigned a hard copy fluency page and a writing page for each day of the week. These pages are labeled at the top for the corresponding day on which to complete them. One fluency page is used for three days. You can have your child read through it once to themselves, then time them for one minute and record how many words they read. Don't worry about recording how many errors. Follow the same process for the rest of the days. I assigned this in hopes of keeping students skills up. On the writing page they can simply journal about the writing prompt. I am not worried about length of writing, more of the conventions. Remind them about capitals, punctuation, spacing, and spelling.

Students Using print resources

I am sending printed reading assignments home for the next 3 weeks. If you find you would like to check out a chrome book to do the online stories instead, please let me know and I will get you all the appropriate materials. You can email me at lisa.shelagowski@lewistown.k12.mt.us

PLEASE continue reading together at home, either to your child or them reading to you. If you find you are needing books, let me know and I will get them to you ASAP.
