2nd grade reading

Students with Internet

*all student login information is included with your newsletter from me in the Friday work packet you picked up.

UPDATED 3-27-2020 I have a website that I think will fit 2nd graders much better than the other I had assigned (readtheory.com). It is more engaging and even allows students to read into their computer microphone, record themselves, and send me their reading. When students log in they are given a list of books to pick from in their "bookshelf". They can read the story, listen to the story being read, and take a quiz on the story. I have each student leveled to start rather easy and I will add higher level books to their bookshelves as we get familiar with the program. Starting Monday 3-30-2020 your child will have a book assigned to them. Please have your child listen to the book, read the book themselves, and take the quiz. I will be taking reading grades from these comprehension quizzes. All students will log in with the teacher username Highland2. They will then have to click on 2 icon pictures. I have sent emails to those listed in campus with the picture icons each student needs, this is also on your Friday 3-27-2020 newsletter in the packet. Let me know if you did not get that email. I will check in with everyone Monday 3-30-2020 to see how it is going. I think kids will like it! Here's the link my.guidedreaders.com/login

This week I also included a small set of work for each day of the week that includes a fluency practice, a spelling page, and a writing page. Please just get done what you can and don't stress about it. I included this so students can keep up on their skills over these next two weeks. With the unknown of when we will be allowed back into school I gave you material through April 17, 2020 if we need it.

Students using Print Resources

I am sending printed reading assignments home for the next 3 weeks in the folder you pick up on Friday. If you find you would like to check out a chrome book to do the online stories instead, please let me know and I will get you all the appropriate materials. You can email me at lisa.shelagowski@lewistown.k12.mt.us

PLEASE continue reading together at home, either to your child or them reading to you. If you find you are needing books, let me know and I will get them to you ASAP.
