I am a 1990 graduate of Underwood High School. After graduation I began studying Architectural Engineering Technology and earned an Associates Degree in Applied Science in 1993 at Iowa Western Community College. I was a computer aided drafter until 1998 working in engineering firms in Omaha, Bettendorf, and Iowa City. During those years I decided to go back to college and get my bachelor's.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Math Education in 1999 from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. I taught three years in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois until moving back to the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. I taught at Bellevue West High School for nine years. During that time I received my Master's in Educational Administration in 2008 from UNO.
I have been at Lewis Central since 2011. This year I am teaching first year algebra and geometry concepts. I am also on the Building Leadership Team.
My husband, two children, two dogs, and four cats live on an acreage in a house I designed. My husband, Mike, works for the Omaha Police Department in the auto theft unit. My daughter will be starting the physician's assistant program this fall at the College of St. Mary. My son is currently working with a fiber optics company and also does residential construction. Outside of school, I enjoy landscaping, home improvement projects, working on Pinterest projects, horseback riding, and remodeling our 1984 Airstream named "Ruthie".
