Norway has fjords, mountains and islands. Fjords are sea inlets made by glaciers. The mountains in Norway are also shaped by glaciers! Norway owns the Svalbard island chain and three islands in the Antarctic as well! Some of the mountains are: Glittertind, Trolltunga, Kjerag, Gaustatoppen, Store Skagastølstind, and Snøhetta. In Norway some of the Fjords are: Høyangsfjorden, Sandefjordsfjord, Melfjorden, Bøkfjorden, Vanylvsfjorden, Wijdefjorden, Lifjorden Hyllestad, Innvikfjorden and Åfjorden. Some of the islands in Norway are: Sommarøy, Senja, Moskenesøya, Austvågøy and Flakstadøya. There are over 150,000 bodies of water in Norway so that means lots of places to swim!
One of Norway's famous fjords is Geirangerfjord. Geirangerfjord is located in the Stranda Municipality which is in the south west of Norway. Hikes in Geirangerfjord are known to be very beautiful and amazing as well as sometimes challenging or easy.
Another famous attraction in Norway is the Viking ship museum. This museum shows ships that the Vikings built and shows a lot about Norway’s past. The museum is located in Oslo, Norway’s capital city.
Norway is bordered by three oceans and three other countries. The oceans Norway is bordered by are the Norweigian Sea, the North Sea and the Barents Sea. The countries Norway is bordered by are Finland, Sweden and a bit of Russia. In relationship to Norway all the countries are actually East of Norway while the seas are all different. The Norwegian Sea is to the West of Norway, the North Sea is to the South of Norway and the Barents Sea is to the South East of Norway.
Two very important places in Norway are Oslo and Galdhøpiggen. Galdhøpiggen is the tallest mountain in Norway. Oslo is the capital of Norway.
Now I’m going to tell you the absolute location of them.The absolute location of Galdhøpiggen is 61°38'11.2"N 8°18'38.8"E. The absolute location of Oslo is 59°54'43.3"N 10°45'47.6"E.
Norway is smaller than many other countries, it is only 148,728 mi²! Compared to some other countries like Brazil Norway is 23 times smaller! There are other countries that are almost the same size as Norway though including Germany (Norway is 2.3% bigger) and Finland (Norway is 8% bigger)! Many countries around Norway are about the same size. (Well, not Russia! It's 17,098,242 km2 in size and 47 times larger!)
