Some major cities in Hungary include the capital city Budapest, the city is located in the center-north of the country, and it is the main business and cultural center of the country with 1,741,041 people.
Debrecen is in the far east of the country near the border with Romania. It has more mountains, and it is known for horses and livestock. It was famous for its fairs during the middle ages. It has 204,124 people.
Miskolc is just north-west of Debrecen, in the far north-east of Hungary. It is known for its heavy industry, and has 172,637 people.
Szeged is near the border of Romania and Serbia, in the south of the country. People call it the “City of Sunshine”, because it has an average of over two thousand hours of sunshine per year, the sunniest city in Hungary. A lot of paprika is grown in that region. It’s known for beautiful architecture and parks. It has 160,000 people.

Pécs is in southwestern Hungary, near the borders of Croatia and Serbia. It is older than the country itself, and is full of Roman and Turkish ruins. Pécs has 150,000 people.
Győr is in northwestern Hungary, next to the border with Slovakia and near the border with Austria. It has 130,000 people.
