Digital divide simply refers to the unequal access to digital technology and modern communication. This can be affected by factors like socioeconomic status and geographic location, leading to a gap between who those have access to computers and the internet and those who do not.
Digital divide can cause weak development and growth among the people. Technology and modern information are strongly needed nowadays to connect us and communicate with one another. The lack of internet access and digital technology may hinder one's ability to innovate and expand their knowledge.
Those who have access to digital technologies can bridge the gap with communities that lack access. Solutions that I can suggest that may help are: promoting the use of digital technology through digital literacy programs, provide sustainable energy resources to be able to use electricity, and implementing policies to make internet services affordable. With the help of the government and global cooperation, these may help the inequality of access to modern technology.
As a student, I am fortunate enough to have access to the internet to help me with my studies. The problems I would sometimes encounter are the slow or lack of internet connection and power outage. On the other hand, some secluded communities don't have access to any of these so I strongly agree that those who have the ability to use their knowledge may help those communities that lack the opportunity to use digital technologies and access to modern information.
