As a HUMSS student, seeing what ICT can do to inspire change opens the door to endless possibilities regarding promoting advocacies and organizing political movements for the good of all. Just like last year, during election season, voters of their respective candidates used social media and other ICT platforms to promote and inspire change amongst other citizens. Their main mission was to promote everyone's constitutional right to vote and elect the officials they believed would be fitting for the roles they were running for.
The current Palestinian genocide has showcased what ICT can do to be a vehicle for change. Through various fundraising and petition signings on websites like Change.org and ceasefirenow.org. Not only that but through apps like TikTok and X (Formerly Twitter), discourse and accurate fact-checking and organization have been spread to combat misinformation brought about by the Israeli government as they attempt to cover up their mistakes regarding the ground situation in Gaza and the West Bank through journalists like Motaz and Plestia.
All in all, ICT technologies can be the next big catalyst for a better world, we just have to catch it when it happens.
