The orange team comprised of Kurt Jairo Ruiz from STEM12A, Cherrie Lou Diaz from STEM12F, Nash Caures from STEM11D, and Mico Yares from STEM11D reigned as the STEM Jeo-Wizard champions in the Sci-Math Finals as part of the Senior High School week held at the SC Auditorium on October 29.
“We were shocked by the unexpected win of our group since we faced a sudden absence of one of our group members,” Ms. Diaz said.
She also thanked Mr. Ruiz for supporting their team until the end by providing reviewers from the topics covered by Grade 11 to Grade 12.
The Jeo-Wizard champions got the first correct answer after the Pink and Green team tried to secure the first points, proving they were the worthy winner from the beginning.
“Our inspiration for this win is Mico Yares since he pushed himself to take and be part of the elimination round yesterday,” said Mr. Ruiz.
He added that Mr. Yares was sick and at the hospital during the final round, making him unable to participate.
The event was hosted by quiz masters Mr. Jerkin Jexel Pedrosa and Ms. Audrey Valderrama alongside the panel of judges: Ms. Roanne Asuelo for Math, Mr. Bryan Gabrillo for Earth and Life Science, and Mr. Joseph de Mata for Chemistry.
Meanwhile, the Pink team consisting of Mr. Stephen Ray Pastrana from STEM12E, Pauline Gomez from STEM12C, Gabriel Louis Datuin from STEM11E, and Angel Ciophel Bayran from STEM11E, claimed the second place after failed attempts during the first rounds.
Lastly, the third place was successfully snatched by the Blue team consisted of of Carlos Miguel Paterno from STEM12G, Alfred Dominic Dela Cruz from STEM12G, Lander Adrian Amaya from STEM11A, and Elijah Leigh Tan from STEM11A after an intense tiebreaker with Team Yellow.
Before the awarding, Danza en Ritmo performed an intermission number showcasing their talents and creativity in dancing.
The winners were awarded on stage with certificates and cash prizes.
