MANILA, Philippines – The Letran Senior High School Department, through the organization of the Technical-Vocational and Livelihood learning area, held a seminar entitled Pixel Perfect: The Art of Color and Typography in Digital Design for the Senior Squires, hosted by experts in the field on October 28, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Mabini Hall.
The event was presented by Mr. Christian Reyes, Mr. Jerry Escultura, and Mr. Ulrich Arcaño–teachers from the ICT Learning Area–started with Mr. Reyes’ discussion of Color Theory, Color Psychology, and its relevance to Branding.
“Each color signifies personality that adds up to the impact of the logo branding,” Mr. Reyes discussed.
The psychology of color was also tackled and various concepts were then elaborated such as color mixes and contrast, complementary and analogous colors, and color personalities.
Meanwhile, Mr. Escultura began his session with a guessing game and asked the students why they easily recognized the fonts with just one look.
“Kapag malayo ang nagbabasa sa text, pwede malito sa alignment ng words kapag mali ang spacing. For example, in your research paper, the standard spacing is 1.5 or the double spacing, it is because it's readable and it is not congested to read,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, the discussion delved more into the difference between serif and sans serif fonts, where he explained that the websites that we use today use sans serif font, while the physical copy of newspapers which are harder to acquire or produced uses serif fonts.
The event is one of the many activities open for ICT students during the two-day celebration of the Senior High School week.
