MANILA, Philippines — ICT students from Grades 11 and 12 participated in “Beyond the Canvas: Graphic Designing Contest” held on October 28, 2024 at Computer Lab 3, St. Vincent Ferrer Building.
Participants must showcase their Photoshop and graphic designing skills, creativity adhering to this year’s theme: “Innovation In Action: The Future Of Technical Education.” The activity was spearheaded by Mr. Nathaniel Mariano, an animation teacher from the ICT area.
In an interview, Mr. Mariano discussed the relevance of honing expertise in graphic designing. He stated that as we are in the 21st century and the ways of communication have become more technical, the ICT students should keep up with the times and must be trained to be competent beyond outside the school walls.
“Graphic designing is a way to show one’s creativity, whether through digital or traditional means, as a way of communication to inform, to inspire, to create,” Mr. Mariano stated.
During the event, the students used the application Adobe Photoshop, which according to TechTarget, is an online image creation, graphic design, and photo editing software developed by Adobe.
“Competitive ang industry ngayon, gusto namin magkaroon sila ng skills [that is] more than coding or video editing. Iba-iba yung mga ICT skills natin [at sa ganito,] mas lamang ang edge natin sa industry,” Mr. Mariano added.
David Kiel Fajardo of ICT12A won first place while Angela Marie De Roxana, also from ICT12A, was awarded second place.
