As part of Vinculo: Senior High School Week 2024, Grade 12 ICT students showcased their talents and skills in the 'ICT Cabling Contest' last October 29 at the Salon de Actos.
Grade 12 students from ICT A and B competed to complete two cable projects within a 35-minute limit.
"This competition allows students to explore different variables, like being a computer technician, and at the same time, it gives them hands-on experience," Mr. Jerry Escultura, an ICT teacher, explained.
He noted that this event celebrated SHS Week and inspired ICT students by showing them real-world applications of their skills.
The competitors mention that one major factor in the contest was arranging the colors of the cables within the tight time frame. However, focus and support from one another helped them complete the contest successfully.
"Iyong part na sama-sama kami sa table, nahihirapan to overcome those struggles kahit na may time limit, we just enjoy ourselves by completing the task," says Patrick Vinluan, a competitor from ICT12B.
At the end of the competition, Naethan Ross Dioniso and Xandros Pascal Fallar were proclaimed as winners after securing first and second place respectively.
According to them, making strategies and preparations beforehand such as practicing at home and seeking help from professionals served as key factors for their success in this competition.
"Pinrepare ko ‘yung tools and materials and practice. Nung una hindi ko mina-mind yung time kasi tinake ko yung time ko para ma-perfect ko ‘yung pagkaayos ng cable at masaya po ako dahil nag-pay off lahat ng hardwork ko," shares Naethan Dionisio from ICT12A, who won the ICT Cabling Contest.
The winners were awarded medals and certificates during the culmination of the TechVoc learning area.
