At this point, we are currently facing an atrocious situation, the pandemic, resulting in people experiencing a tedious daily routine and having to face an affected cognition.
Many people may have seen an exciting video with a vibrating watermarked TikTok logo that captures attention with a song that you might have heard in your nearby canto. Maybe you saw your friend practicing dance steps to record a 60-second video just to a pop-up while scrolling down in your "for you" page.
We've gone through an unprecedented change in our lives; we've got more time on our hands but barely a festive atmosphere. In which social media became our primitive source of entertainment. It has been a while since a new social media platform managed to uplift and keep things cheerful. This is where Tik Tok takes off to brighten up the age of quarantines.
TikTok is a viral video-sharing & social networking service owned by a Chinese company ByteDance. It is an app for making and sharing short videos. Tiktok is often referred to as a lip-syncing, dance, comedy, and talent videos app. It is surprising how it surpassed 2 billion all-time global downloads over a short period of time. Given the app's accessible and friendly nature, almost everyone can relate to it.
The great news about this is that this platform does make you feel better. Reports have suggested that TikTok can be positive for mental health. Since some of us may have been experiencing an incredible amount of stress, there are recommended ways and 'therapeutic' processes to discover and do at this juncture; just like students who experience lots of burden due to online classes' pressure. This app can be a very positive and fun way to stay engaged with people on social media.
It is incredible how technology manages to give us time off from everything we are facing, especially now as we face a global crisis that affects every aspect of our lives. Tiktok is one of the fruits of technology that helped us pause everything for a while and sing or dance everything away. With over 800 million monthly users worldwide, Tiktok indeed encouraged many people to unleash their true selves, whether in music, crafts, sports, or any other skill, even for just a one minute video. The sense of joy that each user feels when they receive that "heart" reacts from their viewers is priceless. It may be little for some people, but for others, it holds a very significant value.
As they say, it is the little things in life that truly matter.
