What is a written prompt?
A sentence or quote used as the starting point for a story.
Examples:
I have one green eye and one brown eye. The green eye sees truth, but the brown eye sees much, much more.
The ghost was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
“Be nice,” my father said. “After all, he’s your brother.”
I am the most famous twelve-year old in the United States.
Jason never felt so foolish before, and he hoped he’d never feel foolish again.
If somebody didn’t do something soon, they were going to have a catastrophe on their hands.
What is a photo prompt?
An image used as the inspiration for a story.
Example:
Feedback Guidelines:
Say something positive about the person’s work. Be specific!
Example: “I really enjoyed…” or “This part was exciting…” or “I laughed out loud when…”
Tell the writer what questions you have about the story.
Example: “I wonder what the character’s motive was when he….” or, “what was your inspiration for…”
Share specific ideas for revision.
Example: “I love the character development of ____. It would be interesting to learn more about her past.” Or, “Perhaps you could elaborate a little more on the conflict between…”
