Sixth graders this year in Social Studies are learning about World History. The units scheduled for this year include ancient Mesopotamia, ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, and ancient Rome, as well as the Phoenician, Hebrew, Assyrian, Chaldean, and Persian cultures. In addition, many current event articles and discussions will take place. Although the history is considered "ancient," many current events in our news today involve this land.

Homework/Classwork—20% of your grade
Homework is assigned nightly Monday through Thursday and is due the next day unless stated otherwise. All homework is digital and can be found easily by clicking the Classwork Tab on Google Classroom and looking at the topic that says “Today’s Homework.” Homework is due by 8:17AM (the start of the school day). All homework responses must be written in full sentences in order to receive full credit.
Writing Assignments—30% of your grade
There will always be an outside writing assignment throughout the year. Each time a writing assignment due date arrives, you’ll get the next assignment. Generally you have 2-3 weeks to complete the assignment.
Tests—50% of your grade
Tests in Social Studies will occur around every 2-3 weeks throughout the year. I will announce the test usually a week beforehand and also pass out the study guide on that day. Extra copies of all notes needed to study are always available on Google Classroom.
1. Follow all class rules and regulations as stated in LMS handbook and in class.
2. Homework due dates are strictly enforced. If you are having trouble with an assignment, come for extra help before the due date!
