This list has twenty six things because this is the start of my 26th year of teaching.
All 26 years have been at Leonia Middle School, mainly in sixth grade and always in Room 202.
If you have an older sibling who attended LMS, I probably had them as a student.
My room was renovated a few years ago.....it didn't used to look at all the way it looks now. In fact, the closet didn't even exist!
My birthday is on September 9th, which is why nine has always been my favorite number.
I am a huge Mets fan and baseball is my favorite sport.
I usually go to 10-15 Mets games a year.
I even have an intro created by Mets PA announcer Colin Cosell. You can check it out here: Walk up Music for Mr. Gugick
Each year, I try to visit an MLB ballpark I haven't been to before. So far I have been to 15 out of the 30 MLB ballparks so I have a long way to go.
As for some other sports, my favorite football team is the Giants and my favorite hockey team is the Devils.
I am one of the coaches of the LMS Brainbusters team. We compete against schools all across the area in trivia type contests. We have even won some nationwide contests.
I love coffee, especially strong, bold roasts. I drink it black (nothing in it).
I love rock and alternative music, especially bands from the 90's!
My favorite color changes between blue and green. Right now as I type this, I'd say blue is my favorite color....but that could change to green by the time you read this. It's a tie.
My favorite ice cream flavor is Mint Chocolate Chip.
While I do like chocolate, I would choose anything vanilla flavored over something chocolate flavored.
My favorite type of takeout food is Chinese.
I have two nephews that live in NY State, one of them is a junior at the University of Buffalo and the other is a freshman at SUNY-Fredonia.
I can snap my fingers really loudly......I know....weird.
My nickname in school growing up was "Gug" (pronounced Gooj)
I grew up in Maywood and currently live in Hackensack.
The only bone I've ever broken was my pinky toe in 7th grade.
I wear hats a lot outside of school, especially in the summer. It is usually a Mets hat (big surprise).
I love to read but I can only read one book at a time. I can't go back and forth between different books.
While I can only read one book at a time, I like to binge two shows at a time and go back and forth between them.
My favorite subject in school was Social Studies. Of course it was! I truly love it!
