All Year 5 pupils have continued to work hard and show very positive learning attitudes. We are proud of their curiosity, resilience and forward thinking.
Our fractions learning in Maths has challenged all pupils with mixed numbers, improper fractions, equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions. The children are gaining skills and confidence and solve fraction word problems.
Our Science learning of 'Earth and Beyond' is sparking many curious questions.
The Virtual Primary STEM show is one of several Live Lessons we are joining this Spring Term, to further enhance our Scientific thinking. This interactive lesson had us using our i-pads to make choices about spacecraft navigating the Earth and trapping disused satellites.

Taking inspiration from The Young Voices Choir experience, our Year 5 pupils have been learning the Magic Marley Medley so we can be part of the Worldwide Singalong. Along with singing, the children have explored reggae beats on drums and guitar. The glockenspiels added the riff to the melody, and we have enjoyed creating our own version of Three Little Birds
In History we are studying The Vikings and how the Raiders became Settlers in Britain.
Home learning for this topic is to build a Longship replica, using any medium. We are looking forward to displaying your ships in class - they can be created from card, clay or even cake. Please bring the ships into class as soon as they are finished, we are placing them on display next week. We will showcase the many wonderfully crafted ships on our Newsletter next time.
Mental Health Week brought a wonderful experience to Year 5 pupils, where the school's Well Being Woofer "Luna" visited the class. Luna's handler Denise, led an activity in Mindfulness, with Luna at the centre of the activity.
Afterwards as a treat, the children who wanted to say a personal hello to Luna, were able to pet her. She has the softest fur!
