CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK: Growing Together 7 - 13 February, 2022

The theme for Children's Mental Health Week 2022 is Growing Together. As part of the week, Place2Be is encouraging everyone – children, young people and adults – to consider how they have grown, and how they can help others to grow. Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential.

Share how you’re getting involved and inspire others around the UK and beyond by filling in their short form and adding yourself to their interactive Children's Mental Health Week map.

You can also post pictures and talk about your event or activity on social media using the hashtag #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek.

CONFERENCE 2022:

Wednesday 16 March

This year we will be focusing on life skills, the 'softer' skills associated with PE such as resilience, collaboration, empathy, confidence and self-esteem, which we know have been affected by the lack of participation, social contacts and general isolation due to the pandemic. You will be able to choose from a selection of practical and theoretical workshops, showcasing some different, but accessible forms of Physical activity and current themes, which can support you in your role back in school.

Mini Medics

In September 2021, we launched our brand new Mini Medics workshop! Teaching children how to identify and help someone who is injured or poorly! The response from our first term delivering the workshop in schools have been overwhelmingly positive!

'Essential knowledge for all children. The children enjoyed sharing their own experiences and it was interesting to see there were children in Year 6 that didn't know 999 was the emergency number to call. Both Sarah and Catherine were great tutors and had the children engaged at all times. It was great they got to use the dolls to actually practice on'

Laura Spencer, TA, Foresters Primary School 25/01/22

'This training was amazing. The children were so engaged and Sarah included all of the children in discussion and practical skills. They all came out of the session absolutely buzzing and full of enthusiasm.'

Cathy Head, TA, Brookfield Primary Academy 12/01/22

House of Lords ‘National Plan for Sport and Recreation Committee’ in support of PE as a Core Subject

The committee's recommendations contained within the report, in the PE and school sport section includes:

'We believe that the physical literacy of children should be valued as highly as their literacy and numeracy. To this end, the Department for Education must designate PE as a core subject across all key stages to ensure that it receives adequate time and resource.'
