All schools at LEO Academy Trust are pursuing the Artsmark Award. This page is dedicated to supporting schools and staff in their achievement of the Award. It includes information on timelines, schemes of work, examples of pupil work, events and workshops for pupils, and training and support for staff. It will also be a place in which we can showcase the Arts in each school on their journey!

Where we are up to...

We have attended our Artsmark Development Day and are now working on our Statement of Commitments! Remember, before submission, you can organise a call with a one to one call with an Artsmark Officer to ensure that it is ready for submission to the Arts Council.

Please take a look at our ongoing Artsmark Journey across the trust by clicking here.

By the end of Autumn 2:

All schools should have completed their Development Day and submitted their Statement of Commitment (see templates for guidance).

All schools will have completed a staff survey, a pupil survey and resources audit so that they can plan half-termly projects (see templates).

All schools should have reviewed their timetables, and Arts scheme of work/planning to ensure that it is a priority, that it is inclusive and culturally diverse and that all pupils will be able to showcase an aspect of the Arts before the Christmas holidays.

All schools will have planned, coordinated and documented the process of a Christmas production that is likely to reflect multiple aspects of the Arts.

CPD to Support your Artsmark Process

Staff meetings for all teaching staff:

All live meetings will be run via Zoom.

What you will get: Each session will include a live make-along, where an Artist will facilitate different practical art techniques. Each session will have learning objectives and will link to a Formal Element of Art (colour, tone, line, shape, form, texture). They will discuss how the activity can be adapted for different age groups/skill levels and how it might be linked effectively to your topics. You will be sent a list of materials needed before each session. These will be materials you will typically have in your school art supply. After the session you will have access to the recorded session, so it can be shared with other staff. You will be sent a written resource plan, materials list and a step by step guide, so you can run the activity in class with pupils. You will receive access to a private teachers’ Facebook group, where we can feedback on how it went in class, answer Q+As and share good practice. Run these sessions, involving the whole staff – use it as a staff CPD session after school and all create together!

SESSION 1: Art and Drawing for Well-Being - Weds 14 October 2020, 4-5pm: Email dbriggs8@leaocademytrust.co.uk if you have not already received the Zoom link or see the LEO Calendar for all details. The recording of the session will be sent to Art Leads after it has taken place.

Materials needed for the session:

You will need to gather together a selection of drawing materials in advance of the session, so that we can all join in with the activities at the same time.

You will need: a flat surface (sitting at a desk is ideal) a selection of papers (if you have a good mixture of A4-A3 and A2 this would be ideal), masking tape, pencils (drawing pencils including HB - 4B would be ideal), ruler, graphite, biro, coloured pencils and felt tips.

Please don't worry if you don't have all of these, as you can really just work with what you have to hand, but a mixture of materials would be great.

SESSION 2: Exploring Printmaking - Weds 3 February 2021, 4-5pm

SESSION 3: Exploring Collage and Multimedia - Weds 24 March 2021, 4-5pm
