WHAT is it?
Read&Write is a literacy support tool that offers help for everyday tasks. With tools to meet the needs of different learners, right across the curriculum. Like reading text out loud, understanding unfamiliar words and proofing written work.

How to locate the toolbar
All you need to do is click the purple puzzle piece located on the extension tab at the top of Chrome. Can't see it? Watch these instructions to find out how to pin it to the top of the page. By default, this has already been done for the children at LEO Academies so they just simply need to find it and click when they need it!

Read&Write can be used to read text aloud. Using Text-to-Speech along with dual colour highlighting can help to improve comprehension.
The check It feature in Read&Write can be used to correct spelling, grammar, confusable words and more.
The Prediction feature in Read&Write to support anyone who struggles with writing.
The Screenshot Reader allows you to read many types of inaccessible text such as images and inaccessible PDF's.
Provides definitions which can be speech enabled to improve comprehension and writing. Picture Dictionary Displays images from Widgit® Symbols for selected words to help support fluency & understanding.
Audio Maker converts text into an MP3 so you can listen on the go or move to another place to read again later.
You can use Screen Masking in Read&Write to tint your screen. You can customize the color, opacity and other options to your own personal preferences. Great for children with dyslexia.
The Translator can be used to translate single words into over 90 different languages.
Use highlighters in Read&Write for research and to extract key information from documents and websites.
This feature allows you to create a vocab list from individual words or terms.
The simplify feature in Read&Write de-clutters webpages and simplify text - great for lower readers or those who visually struggle with lots of text.
Students can use this feature to practice independent reading and even send recording to their teacher for grading and feedback.
