LEO FOREST SCHOOL CHEAM FIELDS
The nursery and reception children had fun birdwatching today! They crafted binoculars and then went on a bird hunt, they spotted parakeets, sparrows, magpies, and even a whole flock of seagulls!
YOUNG VOICES
On Tuesday 30th January, 29 students from the Cheam Fields KS2 Choir, joined by teachers Mrs Mann, Mr Ranther, Mr Canty and Mrs Dallimore travelled up to the O2 Arena to be part of the Young Voices 2024 concert.
Young Voices brings together school choirs from across the UK to perform on the country's biggest stages with professional musicians, star guest performers and incredible production to give the children an unforgettable musical experience.
After travelling on the bus and Tube, the students enjoyed their lunch outside the arena and then headed inside for a fun-filled afternoon of rehearsals. Led by conductor David Lawrence, our students joined a huge choir of other school children to practice the repertoire of songs they had been working so hard to learn since September.
Families arrived at the arena for showtime at 7pm, and were treated to an incredible show as 8476 children sang their hearts out! They performed a huge variety of songs, from Moana to Matilda, Walking on Sunshine to A Sky Full of Stars and were joined on stage by MC Grammar, jazz singer Natalie Williams and 13 year old musical prodigy Nandi Bushell on the drums.
The children had a brilliant day and a night they will never forget. A huge thank you must go out to the teachers who devoted so much of their time, energy and effort to give the children this opportunity. Thank you!
Report from C Griffiths (Parent)
A HUGE congratulations to you and your choir for making YV24 concerts so memorable. We think you’ll agree it was amazing! Please let your YV choir families know that they can get the YV2024 concert video by heading over to yv24film.co.uk. They can stream it the day after their concert and not only watch the concert but also lots of backstage and bonus footage.
YEAR 4
Year 4 have been working hard on their ‘Layers of the Rainforest’ posters this afternoon! Brilliant work!
YEAR 6
Year 6 have been exploring shadows through the use of shadow puppets, thinking about how a shadow appears to change size. We have worked well with our new friends visiting us from China, writing the script for our puppet show in two languages!
