YEAR 4 CHOCOLATE MAKING
As part of the children's Vanishing Rainforests topic this term, they will be learning about the making of chocolate in their DT lessons. After half term, the children will be doing a chocolate taste test, designing their chocolate bars and making them. We are asking for every child to bring a donation of a large unflavoured chocolate bar (milk, white or dark). We would hugely appreciate any extra donations to ensure all children have the opportunity to taste and make their chocolate bars.
Please ensure that the chocolate contains no nuts and is sent in to your child's class teacher by Tuesday 20th February 2024.
Thank you for your ongoing support.

World Thinking day is being celebrated on 22nd February, as it is every year, and is a day for members of the guiding community to celebrate being part of an international movement This year the theme is Our World, Our Thriving Future. This gives Girl Guides a chance to learn about how girls and young women can build a better future where all girls live in an environmentally sustainable world free of poverty
Schools are invited to allow pupils who are members of Rainbows, Brownies or Guides and Scouts to wear their uniforms on this day, and to increase the awareness of both the community movement and the overall theme.

LONDON SCIENCE MUSEUM TRIP
As part of the children’s topic on ’Forces and Magnets’, we have arranged a trip to The London Science Museum for:
Amber class on Thursday 14th March
Emerald class on Friday 15th March
On this trip, we will attend the ‘Feel the Forces’ workshop as well as explore some of the other areas the Science museum has to offer.
We will be getting public transport to and from the venue. We will travel by minibus to Worcester Park Station, where we will then get a train to Wimbledon followed by a tube to South Kensington. From there we will walk the short distance to the Science Museum. Children will need to be in school at normal time, and the children will arrive back to school by 4pm.
Lunch will be eaten at the venue, we are now able to offer a free packed lunch to all children so if you would like us to arrange this please ensure this is completed on the form by Friday 1st March. The sandwich options are ham, cheese and turkey. Please ensure your child brings a small rucksack with them to put their lunch in. If you choose to pack your child's own lunch, please ensure they have lunch and a drink (no fizzy drinks) in a named small rucksack in which they can carry their lunch.
The children should wear school uniform as usual, however as there will be some walking involved throughout the day, they will be allowed to wear trainers/comfortable shoes. They should also wear weather appropriate coats.
We may also need some parent volunteers. If you are available on this date and would like to offer your help, please indicate this on the form. We will then contact you to confirm your help.
We are very excited about this great opportunity for the children. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The cost of the Trip is £5 and needs to be paid by Friday 1st March. Please log onto your child's Arbor account to make payment under Activities/Trips.
Thank you for your continued support.

RED NOSE DAY
Friday 15th March
Red Nose Day 15 March 2024 On Cheam Fields will join thousands of schools up and down the country coming together to spread joy, have fun and raise money for those who need it most. Because there’s nothing like Red Nose Day. Let’s face it, we could all do with a bit of a laugh right now. So, let’s come together and do something amazing. Let’s make Red Nose Day the best day ever.
Here’s what we’ve got planned:
Dress up in Red and wear a red nose (can be purchased from the local super markets).
We know there’s a lot going on right now and for many people things are really tough. But if you can donate, every penny will add up to a life changing difference. You can donate online here or dropping some pennies in the buckets on 15 March.
Thank you for your continued support - you are amazing!
