We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the Cheam Fields PTFA has successfully applied for and won a £3,000 grant from the Sutton Community Fund! This generous funding is specifically dedicated to our exciting new Sensory Garden project. We are working closely alongside the school to see this goal realised, creating a peaceful, stimulating, and inclusive space for all our children to enjoy.
While our community has been incredibly supportive of the vital Trim Trail fundraiser, wins like this highlight how the PTFA works hard behind the scenes to secure funding for a wide variety of projects. From physical play to sensory exploration, we are committed to enhancing every aspect of the school environment for our 470+ pupils.
We will be ordering items such as the Weaving net and nature table you can see in the pictures here. So watch this space.
A huge thank you to the Sutton Community Fund for helping us bring the Sensory Garden one step closer to reality!
We are thrilled to reveal the transformation taking place behind the MUGA! Over the half-term, the school has been working hard to install a brand-new path, creating an accessible and inviting outdoor space for our children to enjoy.
A School-Led Vision This project is a school-driven initiative designed to enhance outdoor learning and well-being. To support this, the school has installed three large sensory planters which will soon be filled with a variety of textures, scents, and sounds—from "Velvet & Whiskers" lamb's ear to "Lemon & Mint" herbs.
How the PTFA is Supporting While the school leads the development, the PTFA is dedicated to helping this garden grow:
Grant Applications: We are actively applying for environmental and educational grants to fund additional sensory equipment, such as weaving nets, musical chimes and nature stations.
Community Soil Drive: To get our "Sensory Row" ready for planting, we are looking for donations of multi-purpose compost or topsoil.
By working together, we ensure that the 470+ children from Nursery to Year 6 have a high-quality, calming environment that supports their sensory development and education.
PTFA Reminder: All parents and staff are automatically members of the PTFA. Helping with projects like this is a great way to "engage in activities which support the school and benefit the pupils" as outlined in our constitution.
