We will be inviting you and your child to visit their new classroom on either Tuesday 8th or Wednesday 9th July.
The session will take place after school starting at 3.30 pm and ending at 4.15 pm.
Your child will be able to familiarise themselves with the classroom, meet their new teacher and teaching assistant and some new class room friends.
The sessions will be split 50/50 due to numbers and capacity we will inform you of your date shortly.

In order to ensure a smooth transition for the children we have a carefully planned staggered start in September for our Early Years children.

For those children who attend our Nursery, we will invite you to a face to face or online meeting with the class teacher on Tuesday 15th July.
To ensure a smooth transition the nursery teacher will also share relevant information about your child with their new reception teacher.
We value the importance of each child being an individual and understand that they are on their own ‘unique’ learning journey. We believe that children's first experience of school, or a new setting, has a big impact on how they settle and subsequently their feelings about school. It is for this reason that we invest time in providing home visits to all children.
Reception staff visit families who are new to Cheam Common Infants' prior to the children starting school to gain a full understanding of the whole child. This will be a chance for you to meet individually with your child’s teacher in your home environment. This also gives an opportunity for parents to share valuable information, promote a smooth entry to Reception and help build a positive relationship between school and home.

Our policy on school uniform is based on the notion that school uniform:
promotes a sense of pride in the school;
engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school;

prevents children from coming to school in fashion clothes that could be distracting in class;
makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance;
is regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money by most parents;

Despite the Prime Minister setting a target of 75 per cent of children being ‘school ready’ by 2028, there is currently no official description of ‘school readiness’.
To help parents, carers and children, Kindred Squared along with nursery groups, organisations and charities concerned with education, have come together to define, for the first time, what they believe being ready to start Reception actually means. All the information and recommendations for parents, cares and families are available on the new Starting Reception website.
The ‘Starting Reception’ definition of school readiness is an agreed list of suggested skills and activities which parents should be practising with their children in preparation for starting school in Reception year.
It comes after nine out of 10 parents surveyed by Kindred Squared this year said they thought their child was ready for school, while according to teachers, only one in three children were actually ready.
The new definition lists recommendations in four categories for children arriving at Reception, to help them develop a range of abilities and the confidence to get off to a flying start, they are:
Growing independence
Building relationships and communication
Physical development
Healthy routines
Activities and skills listed under the categories that should be introduced into children's daily lives include:
The ability to use cutlery
The ability to use the toilet by themselves
Being able to take turns and share toys
Recognising their names
Being able to hang coats on pegs
Being able to pay attention for short periods of time
Having the ability to talk about their feelings
Being active for at least three hours a day

Although we encourage children to attend school every day, we realise that sometimes children are unwell and therefore unable to come to school.
If your child is absent from school due to illness or a same day medical appointment, you must complete the google form below by 8.30am on each day of absence. We may contact you for more information or to ask for medical evidence.
At Cheam Common Infants' we offer wraparound care both before and after school.
The breakfast club runs from 7:30am until the start of school. The cost for a daily session is £6.50
The after school club runs from after school until 6.00pm. The daily session cost is £16.00

Pupil premium is additional funding allocated to all schools in England to support disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
This budget includes pupils who are currently entitled to free school meals, have been free school meals in the past six years (FSM ‘Ever Six’), children that are cared for or adopted from care and children whose parents are in the armed forces.
