 Le Mars Community High School Counseling Staff

Melissa Hill (Counselor)

Mrs. Hill began her distinguished career in education in 1990 as a kindergarten teacher at Anthon-Oto. She came to Le Mars one year later to teach 1st grade and has worked in Le Mars ever since. In 1993, Mrs. Hill started as a school counselor and has worked as a counselor at all levels, with the last six years being at Le Mars Community High School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Morningside University and her master's degree from the University of South Dakota. When Mrs. Hill is not at school, she likes spending time with her family and also traveling.

Judd Kopperud (Counselor)

The 2023-24 school year will be Mr. Kopperud's seventh year as a counselor at LCHS. Prior to becoming a school counselor, Mr. Kopperud taught English at LCHS and LCMS for a combined ten years. He also taught a combined four years of English at Forest City and North Iowa Community Schools. Throughout his career, he has also coached various sports as well. He earned his undergraduate degree from Luther College and his master's degree in school counseling from Wayne State College. Outside of school, Mr. Kopperud can be found at the lake with his family, watching his kids' activities, enjoying the great outdoors, or reading a good book.




Amy Schmidt (Registrar)

Mrs. Schmidt will be starting her ninth year at Le Mars Community High School in the 2023-24 school year. She is a 2000 graduate of LCHS, and following high school, she attended NIACC, UNI, and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Mrs. Schmidt works as the official registrar at LCHS, and she also works as an administrative assistant with activities at LCHS. Her family includes her husband Adam and daughters Kynlee, Rylann, and Aynslee. Outside of school, Mrs. Schmidt enjoys quality time with her family. She loves going to any activities that her kids are involved with, as well as spending time at the lake, and also golfing.
