Who is responsible for overseeing Community Service at Leland & Gray?
Leland & Gray has two Community Service Coordinators: Phoebe Connolly will be responsible for tracking and recording hours, verifying hours with organizations and maintaining a record of hours. Terry Davison-Berger will be responsible for reaching out to local organizations and community outreach and locating and speaking with organizations and groups for community service opportunities. Together they will work on announcing events and community service opportunities through the daily bulletin, posters around school, student e-mail, bulletin board, Friday Notes, Advisory and assemblies. They will also work with IT to create a community service section on the L&G website where forms, opportunities and details of the requirement will be listed.
Who needs to complete Community Service?
Beginning with the class of 2019, Community Service is now a graduation requirement and has been pro-rated for implementation and we will begin tracking hours at the start of the second semester in 2017 (January 23, 2017).

How many hours do I need to complete in order to graduate?
Students must perform 40 total service hours in order to graduate. It is suggested that this occur at a rate of 10 hours per year but students can complete hours ahead of time.
What if I transferred to Leland & Gray?
Transfer students’ requirements will be prorated using intervals of 5 hours (ex: midyear transfer in 10th grade will owe 25 hours prior to graduation).
What happens if I don't complete my hours?
You must complete 30 hours by your senior year otherwise you lose your senior privileges and/or free pass. Juniors must complete 30 hours of community services in order to attend the Prom and Seniors must complete their 40 hours of community service in order to attend the Prom.
