Sarah Rolfe is excited to be teaching at Walker Middle School after joining LEISD for Lakeside Middle School's final year. Prior to joining Little Elm ISD, she taught at Smith Middle School in Cleburne, TX where she was the primary director of the Symphonic Band and taught all of the beginning brass classes. She is a native Texan raised in San Antonio, TX, where she attended Winston Churchill HS and played trumpet in numerous musical ensembles. In December 2016, she received her Bachelor in Music Studies with an emphasis in Instrumental Studies from Texas State University. During her time at Texas State, Mrs. Rolfe was involved in multiple concert ensembles, the jazz lab band, Bobcat Basketball band, and the Bobcat Marching Band. In addition to school ensembles, she performed as a member of the mellophone section with the world class Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Denver, CO in the summer of 2012.
Mrs. Rolfe will be teaching beginning Trumpet, Double Reed, French Horn, and Tuba classes. In addition, she will be the teacher of record for the Honor Band and assist with the Symphonic and Concert Bands.
Mrs. Rolfe performs with the Metropolitan Winds, a professional wind ensemble that rehearses at Little Elm HS. Her professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmaster's Association, and the National Association for Music Education. During her free time, Mrs. Rolfe enjoys mountain biking, crafting, playing board games, and spending time with family and friends. She lives in Oak Point with her husband Dylan, golden retriever Maisie, and cats Jasper and Lily.
Steven Olmstead is Assistant Director and teacher of record for the Walker Middle School Symphonic Band in Little Elm, TX. Prior to joining Little Elm ISD he was Assistant Director of Percussion for Celina ISD and Concert Band Director for Celina Junior High from 2015 to 2019. Between 2013 and 2015 he held the position of Assistant Director of Percussion and Director of the 7th Grade Band at Wills Point ISD. He started his career as the as the Head Junior High Director for Livingston Junior High in Livingston, TX. His time student teaching was spent with the Argyle band in Argyle, TX under the direction of Kathy Johnson in Fall 2012.
Mr. Olmstead holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education Degree from the University of North Texas. During his time at UNT he participated in the UNT Green Brigade Marching Band and Concert band directed by Dr. Nick Williams, the Symphonic Band conducted by Mr. Dennis Fisher, the 2 O’Clock Steel Band under Mark Ford, and various classical percussion ensembles. Furthermore, he has received semesters of private instruction from Mark Ford, Paul Rennick, Ed Soph, Christopher Deane, and She-e Wu. Mr. Olmstead performed with the UNT Gamelan Ensemble at PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) in the Spring of 2009 and with the UNT Indoor Drumline on their travels to Belgium in the spring of 2011.
Outside of the classroom, he participated in the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in the summer of 2008 and the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in the Summer of 2011. During this time he had a wonderful opportunity to perform with talented individuals that shared his same love for music.
He is married to his wife, Sarah Olmstead who, as a colorguard consultant and math teacher, shares in supporting fine arts, band programs, and education.
