Every member of our academy family works together to achieve success resulting in a strong sense of belonging.
All pupils at LAB are apart of a College community. These are Airy College, Fawcett College and Sancho College.
Theses colleges are all named after local Greenwich individuals who achieved a great deal in their lifetime and lived in accordance with our values. They were selected by our very first set of pupils, our Founders for their own Year 6 summer project.
Each college is a family with a Vice Principal, Assistant Principal and two Student Services Manager to help guide your journey through LAB. Every member of staff are apart of a college and each college has its very own floor.
We also compete in colleges for merits, attendance and for Sports Day and work closely with your parents/carers to ensure you are safe, behaving and reaching your full potential.
Details of our Colleges will be shared soon!
LAB tutors work in their college teams to look after you and their other pupils. Tutors are also subject teachers so whilst they may help you progress academically their role as tutor is designed to provide pastoral support. They keep an eye rewards & behaviour, attendance and are there to communicate with your parents/carers.
See some of our current staff thoughts on being a tutor:
Being a tutor is such a rewarding experience. I get to check in on students and ensure that they are well and ready for the school day. We as tutors can be that listening ear to problems, jokes, curiosities or even achievements outside of learning. It is also a chance for us as teachers to help you build on so many life attributes like; how to show respect, how to be resilient, how to show scholarship, how to be ambitious, how to show integrity and how to be the best version of you!
Ms Cameron-Smith
Being a form tutor at LAB is the best part of my job. Seeing my tutor group every day allows me to build really good relationships with my students so I can support them better. The tutor programme at LAB is current and covers a wide range of topics which ignites debates and discussions. I am the first point of contact for parents; this helps build good relationships with those parents. I use our management information system (Bromcom) to monitor my students behaviour through merits and demerits.
