Transition Programme

Headstart Day

The day will be based on our academy values of: Respect, Integrity, Scholarship, Ambition and Resilience. The activities planned will introduce our new students to what these values mean and how they are linked to everything we do at LAB. On the day students will meet their Head of College and other members of their college team. It will also be an opportunity for them to make new friends, experience how we learn at LAB and explore the amazing new building. More details to follow shortly!

Primary School Visits

Each college team will work closely with every feeder primary school to ensure we have all the required information to support your child's transition to secondary school. College staff will visit primary schools to meet students and answer any questions they may have and also give them some information about a typical day at LAB.

Summer Project

Every year our future Year 6's are asked to complete a Summer Project. Our founders researched local people and determined the names of our colleges, our current Year 8s designed time capsules to celebrate the building of our new school in 2020 and our current year 7's designed the fourth floor of the building! This year our Summer Project (found in the Summer Project tab) is the LAB Passport Summer Challenge, you will also find our Sparx Maths Challenge under this tab.

Transition Pack

Our Transition Pack is designed to support students. Here you can complete different activities on topics such as getting organised, reflecting on memories and the importance of routine! You will find this information under our 'Transition Pack' tab.

Taster Lessons (LAB Lessons)

Each department has put together some resources to show you what a LAB lesson may look like. They represent an introductory lesson for you to complete which has ben designed just for you during this transition period.

Meet the Tutor

Our 'Meet the Tutor' event takes place in Module One. This event is designed to introduce your child's tutor and run through some key topics in relation to your child's academy life. We look forward to meeting you all!
