Debbie Laible is a professor at Lehigh University. She received her Ph.D. and masters from the University of Nebraska and completed her undergraduate degree at Brandeis University.
Dr. Laibles research focuses on the development of social, emotional, and moral competence in the context of close relationships.
Mel's research focuses on how parent socialization influences the moral, emotional, racial, and political development of children and adolescents. Our recent studies have investigated how parents influence the development of racial prejudice and extremist political beliefs in White American adolescents. Mel is especially interested in the role of emotion socialization and parenting behavior in the intergenerational transmission of ideology during pre-adolescence through young adulthood.
