A history and archive of information developed and collected by LegacyWorks Group in service of
the County Library Ad Hoc Committee (2019-2022) and the County Library Advisory Committee (2025)
In late 2018, the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors created an Ad Hoc Committee to address persistent budget challenges and funding requests needed to keep libraries open. The purpose of the committee was to outline a path to a sustainable and equitable finance and governance system for county libraries. LegacyWorks Group was hired to facilitate the Committee from 2019 to 2022.
In 2025, a task force of the County's Library Advisory Committee (LAC) and Community Services District (CSD) asked LegacyWorks to return in order to orient the LAC to the work of the Ad Hoc Committee and explore how the LAC can continue working toward a sustainable and equitable finance and governance system for county libraries.
This website is a repository of material developed by and collected for these two committees. This is not a website about the libraries, nor the County committees. It is a snapshot of work completed, offered to assist individuals and groups working toward the same goals.
