start thinking about bringing in (recycled) supplies from home that you might be able to use for your natural hazards project. (soup cans, plastic containers, hot glue sticks,..) Hello sixth grade families!
Well, here we are finding ourselves at the end of the school year! For our final science project: DESIGN A STRUCTURE TO WITHSTAND A NATURAL DISASTER. They will be building a structure to try to withstand some natural disasters including flood, earthquake, mudslide, and volcano.
Students will need any of the following that you might be able to scrape up:
Duct Tape
Rubber bands
Pom Poms
pipe cleaners
Paper Clips
String
clean empty 2 liter and / or milk jug
Plastic Cups
Plastic Wrap
Hot Glue Gun w/ glue
Clay
Construction Paper
Plastic Straws
Masking Tape
Bubble wrap
Liquid Glue
Felt
Popsicle Sticks
other recycled materials (cans, cartons, styrofoam)
1'x1' base per group
or anything else you think might be helpful. Items can be brought in starting Tuesday.
I will be posting more instructions in the Google Classroom and we will be talking more about it next week, and starting to build on Wednesday.
We will plan on "testing" these the last week of school.
