... which means that we have created a program specifically for 5th and 6th graders. The IPOD is designed for students who are done with elementary but are not quite ready for middle school. Its purpose is to help foster growth and independence in a supportive environment. We challenge our students to own some responsibility for their education while giving them tools to help them succeed. The IPOD program is a place where students, teachers and parents work together!
Responsibility: One goal we have for our IPOD students is to get them used to keeping track of their own school work. We are working with them and teaching them how to take ownership of their homework and manage their time.
Lockers: Each of the IPOD classrooms is table friendly. (No desks for storage of school materials.) Each student has 2 assigned lockers in our hallway for storing backpacks, coats and school supplies.
Separate Playground: The IPOD playground is separate from the middle school outdoor space. IPOD students have a playground including a gaga ball pit, swings, monkey bars, soccer field, kick-ball field, basketball hoops, and 4-square.
IPOD Activities: Many of our group activities are intentionally different from the activities in middle school. Keep an eye on the website and student planners for more details about upcoming IPOD events.
Progress Reports: Midway through the first quarter students will receive a progress report from the IPOD teachers. The report cards received quarterly will have a similar format to the elementary report cards your Legacy students received in previous years.
