Parents as Teachers is a voluntary home visiting program that partners with families to encourage and support their child's development and healthy growth during their first crucial years of life.
Families participate in home visits to learn and celebrate their child's development. Parent educators provide support and connect families to resources based on the individual needs of the family.
Families have the opportunity to participate in group connections to connect with other families of children about the same age. Group connections provide opportunities to share experiences, connect to resources, learn about child development and different parenting topics.
Parent educators will provide screenings to monitor your child's overall development: vision, health, social/emotional, language & motor. Screenings inform families if their child is performing in the normal ranges for their child's age.
The goal of Parents as Teachers is to partner with families to guide their child's development to reach their greatest potential.
Parents are their child's first and most influential teacher. Parents as Teachers will guide families in their child's development and provide resources to help the family reach their goals.
Children learn from the very beginning of their life. A child's development is quickly changing as they grow. A child's success in school is greatly affected by their first five years of life.
Parents as Teachers has four components to support families in their child and family's development:
Personal Visits
Group Connections
Screenings
Resource Network
Families living in the Leesville, Calhoun or Davis School Districts
Expectant parents
Families with children ages prenatal-5 years (Kindergarten entry)
