IT and online information

How do I access college computers for the first time?

You can login to the LRC computers using your college IT username and password. Your username is the ID number as displayed on your college ID card, your password is initially set as your date of birth DDMMYYYY.

As a result, your username and password should look like the example below:

Username: A123456

Password: 01012000

Every six weeks you are asked to reset your password for security reasons. Always include a capital letter, a number and a symbol, ensuring that the password is at least 8 characters long.

If you ever forget your password or find yourself locked out of your IT account any member of reception staff can check the issue and, in the majority of cases, sort the problem for you.

Accessing your LCC Google account for the first time?

Every Leeds City College student is given a Google account. This account includes your college email, Google Drive and Google Classroom, as well as a host of other apps and add ons.

The username for your college Google account is slightly different to the one you access your IT account. To access Google, once you are logged on as above, your username is your ID@leedscitycollege.ac.uk. Your password remains exactly the same as above in the DDMMYYYY format.

As a result, your username and password should look like the example below:

Username: A123456@leedscitycollege.ac.uk

Password: 01012000

Hint: The password changes you make every six weeks change it for IT and Google.

How do I access my student email?

From your college desktop, open Chrome App Launcher and select Gmail.

Enter your student number from your ID card, followed by @leedscitycollege.ac.uk and then your college computer password.

Ask Library staff if you need any help with this.

Tip: If you give your email out, your address is: A123456@my.leedscitycollege.ac.uk

How do I print, copy and scan?

The college has multifunctional devices which print, copy and scan. You can log in to these devices manually to retrieve your work, it is better to save time in the long run by registering your student card first. This will allow you to login by swiping your card in the future. Ask any member of LRC staff if you need any help.

Hint: If you ever have a new badge printed you will need to re-register on these machines.

Do I have to pay for printing, copying and scanning?

All students are given £5 credit for printing and photocopying each term.

Credits are deducted from your account every time you print or photocopy. One side of a black and white page costs approximately 1p whilst a colour page costs approximately 5p.

If you run out of credit you can buy more from the reception teams. Print balances are reset after Christmas and Easter, if you run out before these times buy only enough credit to print and copy what you need. Credit is not carried over to the next term, so any unspent credits are lost and your account is reset to £5.
