Here is our Preschool Calendar. Please note it is a little different then the district calendar.
I thought it might help to show you what a day in preschool looks like so you can make a daily schedule for you and your child to follow. Just like adults, children thrive when they know what to expect from their day. When in school I use a consistent daily schedule with visuals for each part of our day.
Our day starts off with table time after we have unpacked our backpacks and washed our hands. Table time is when we work with manipulatives, play simple board games or have a teacher directed small group activity. Using the game or toy your child picked we will ask questions and engage with them to target all areas of development: language, cognitive, fine and gross motor, social and emotional skills.
Then we move to morning/afternoon meeting where we greet each other and practice calendar skills. We identify the month, days of the week (check out my link document for a fun song), the year and count how many days are in the month thus far. We also identify the weather and what it would be a good day to do and how to dress. In addition, we have a mighty minute. A quick little song or game to target a specific skill. We also practice letter sounds with Fundations.
After morning/afternoon meeting, we have center time. That is our play time! We chose an area to play in such as art, blocks, sensory table, dramatic play. Through their play we again work on all domains of development, just like at table time. Children learn through play!
We then have snack time or our daily special (Art, Music, Gym, Library, and Spanish)
Our day ends with another group activity. We might read a story, do an activity such as an art project or play a game related to the weekly theme. Each part of our day is about 15-30 minutes long.
