QEP HQC Program Knowledge Elements - LEARN Resources
Over the years a few Google Slide versions of the History of Quebec and Canada program have been created.
The first is simply to help keep track of where our resources are! This site functions as a site map to key periods, events and learning goals that do indeed follow the program, but if you want to trace through the actual knowledge to be acquired lists to find our resources, try this document!
Counter-History versions
What are "counter histories" and what makes this project's collection of histories essential?
The answer is more complicated than it seems (read more here!), but suffice to say that these documents often trace histories that are left out of the official History programs, and which we are trying to trace as we build our online program support resources at LEARN.
Black History Tracing Document
This is a long-term project to attempt to trace some direct and indirect examples of the participation of Black individuals and culture in Quebec’s long and complex historical narrative. Also included are some comparative references for Black experiences “elsewhere”, and even some less-established and occasionally controversial ideas that allow for some perspective on our national narrative. This is NOT a Black History program or in any way a complete idea of Black History in Quebec or elsewhere. It's just a tool to help include Black participation in our HQC program. Readers should click on references and verify all sources, and come to their own conclusions. Check out what is there, here!
Women's Voices
This one is just getting started, so there is not much there at the time of publishing. Again, another personal project, to attempt to trace some direct and indirect examples of the participation of, in this case, Women in Quebec’s long and complex historical narrative. Also likely to be included are some comparative references for Women’s experiences “elsewhere”, and possibly (hopefully) some occasionally hard or perhaps controversial ideas. Readers should verify all sources and come to their own conclusions! Check out what is there, here!
Indigenous Peoples
This one is a whole different type of tracing document, though hopefully it will also expand in a similar fashion to the above documents, to include more "counter-history" elements, i.e. aspects of Indigenous History that are NOT included in the program. At the time of posting though, this version was started simply to start to track our history resources that refer to Indigenous contributions or participation, even ones included in the program Check out what is there, here!
