Meet the Year 6 Team

My name is Resham Premchand and I am thoroughly looking forward to a very exciting learning journey with your child this year.

This is my second year teaching at GSIS and a total of twenty-two years in education, woohoo! I have had the pleasure of working in several schools in Hong Kong and overseas, specifically in upper primary. I am a qualified ESL teacher and will be working with children in our German stream as well this year. I am also part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and several other professional organisations.

I am of Indian ethnicity, I was born in Taiwan and grew up in several different places, however, I have spent the majority of my time in Hong Kong. I consider myself a global citizen and enjoy meeting new people, and learning about cultures and food. I thoroughly enjoy reading, writing and travelling.

I believe that we are all on a learning journey, both personally and professionally. With a growth mindset, a positive attitude and utilizing and enhancing skills, we can be solution seekers.

My name is Anushka Abraham, the kids (and some parents!) call me Miss A. I have been at GSIS for a long time now so I feel like I know many of you!

I am originally from India and have spent close to 20 years teaching in New Zealand, the USA and Hong Kong. Apart from completely disrupting our lives for the past few years, Covid has also ruined my dreams of exploring the world during the holidays. I know many of you will empathise! Since travel is currently limited, I've read a lot more books than usual, watched many more movies than I normally would and experimented in the kitchen!

Teaching is a passion of mine and one of the best parts of this profession is the interactions with the children, especially when they are not learning-related! I love teaching in the upper primary classes - this is when the children start showing their personality, uniqueness and sense of humour. I've been told I should stop pretending to be strict, that I tell the worst jokes and that I should stick to teaching and not sing for a living. Hard truths from 10 years olds!

I look forward to getting to know you and your children over the year, maybe you can update me on any new truths!
