Exploring and discussing the relationship between AI and Society from a philosophical perspective. We will use a discussion-based approach to explore a variety of topics, ranging from sociopolitical dilemmas such as the Ethics of AI, to more philosophical contemplations such as Philosophy of Mind, the study of whether AI is or can be conscious. Ultimately, it comes down to understanding what AI is, how we can use it, and how it will impact human evolution.
The trolley problem is a thought experiment in ethics about a fictional scenario in which an onlooker has the choice to save 5 people in danger of being hit by a trolley, by diverting the trolley to kill just 1 person.
My topic for this paper will mainly be based on the Trolley Problem. The Trolley Problem is a thought experiment in moral philosophy that presents a hypothetical scenario to examine ethical decision-making. In this scenario, a runaway trolley is on course to harm a group of people who cannot move. The person facing the dilemma has the option to pull a lever, diverting the trolley onto a different track. However, this action will result in harm to an individual on the diverted track. During this paper, I will delve into my opinions on different factors in the scenario and how an AI is supposed to react if faced with this scenario, by using ethical or logical reasoning?
