Changemakers Philosophy was about getting acquainted with philosophical thinkers and their ideas. Each learner was assigned a philosopher, thinker, or famous mind, and, through a series of assignments ranging from writing an opinion paper to creating an instagram profile for their thinker, came to learn more about, reflect on, and share their thoughts on the thinker and their beliefs. Objectives for the building block included using philosophical concepts to effectively communicate complex ideas with others, and critically evaluating information and considering different viewpoints to form a well-rounded understanding of a topic.
Purpose:
For this task, we had to look for 10 different quotes
from our philosopher the purpose of this was to get the
basic knowledge about our philosopher, and my favorite
quote that I found was
"I paint flowers so they will not die." I found this one the
best quote because it resonated with me saying that
just because something is gone doesn't mean that
it is forgotten.
Process:
during this process of this task, it was difficult to find
quotes that resisted with me or were actual philosophical quotes.
Challenges:
Some challenges that I found were that a lot of her quotes were abstract and difficult to interpret, for example, the quote that I found difficult to interpret was What do I need legs for if I can fly? I found it difficult to interpret because she is intact and can not fly and therefore don't understand why this is relevant.
Learnings:
This task taught me to look and quotes with a more abstract point of view to interpret them better, it also deepened my appreciation for the complexity of philosophical thought.
Purpose:
Building an Instagram profile for Bertrand Russell was a fusion of creativity and intellectual translation. I say this because we had to create a profile that was visually pleasing while still transferring the information required.
Process:
In the process of creating the profile, finding a way to keep artistic was the most difficult, but the reason for doing so was to appear as much like Frida as possible. Seeing that she is an artist.
Challenges:
Maintaining a deeply personal profile, akin to Frida Kahlo's, proved more challenging than expected. Emulating Frida's essence while speaking as if embodying her persona presented unexpected difficulties.
Learnings:
I employed various creative mediums like posts, a biography, and a video to adeptly convey Frida's philosophy to a wider audience, thereby refining both communication and presentation abilities.
Purpose:
The purpose of writing this paper was not just to meet the criteria. But to learn how to write about my opinion without it outshadowing the opinion of the philosopher.
process:
During the process of writing the essay For the first 500 words, I found it very easy to write. But after a while, it was almost like I ran out of concentration power. It was so difficult to re-focus but in the end, it became easy again, exceeding the requirement of 700 words by writing 900.
Challenges:
Some challenge that I found was while writing the paper there were moments where my knowledge of Frida Kahlo was too little and I had to go back and do more research
Learnings:
Something that I learned from this project was that I need to do more research beforehand so that when I am in a creative flow, I am able to continue writing instead of having to go and do more research.
Some ways that studying Frida has changed my approach to this project are that I look at her work and peoples work in general has changed do to how abstract her work is. Another thing that I did differently and will do differently in the future is look at her connection and who was closely related to her while she lived to get more insight into the relationships that she had.
