Chloe Place
This month Chloe has been able to play as a full time member for both the Junior Girls Volleyball team, the Senior Girls Volleyball team, while also coaching the Grade 8 Girls Volleyball team. Her leadership, poise and on court performance has been rock solid to start the season
Jr. Boys September
Tucker Mlazgar
Tucker in September participated in the Terry Fox run as one of the legs for Cedar (16 km). Two days later he competed for Cedar in a XC race in Comox with heavy legs as well as having a tremendous game vs Dover Bay in volleyball. A true multi-sport talent
Sr. Girls September
Camryn Ebach
Nominated by her peers for this prestigious recognition, Camryn has anchored the Sr. Girls volleyball team as the defensive wizard she is as the libero. She has been a stalwart in the position and has lead the Sr. Girls to victories at the Spectrum tournament as well as sets in league play
Sr. Boys September
Rodrigo Queiroz
Joining us as an international student from Brazil, Rodrigo has found his home with Cedar Athletics. During September he helped the Sr. Boys volleyball team win vs. DCS as well as sets against powerhouse NDSS. His hard hitting and athleticism fits perfectly on the court.
Aizlyn has been a huge contributor to the Grade 8 Girls volleyball team this month. Her powerful serve, consistency with passes and effort and attitude are not matched by many on the court. Aizlyn went on an 8 serve hot streak vs Wellington and has consistently contributed to set wins throughout the season. One to keep an eye on in the athletic department!
Neve has been one of the most consistent players on the court for the Grade 8 Girls Volleyball team. Her quiet confidence and consistency with passes and serves helped propel the Grade 8 girls volleyball team to wins against Wellington and Dover Bay. Great job Neve! Looking for her to be a big part of the Spartan family for years to come
Nominated by her peers and coaching staff for her never ending positive attitude. Even when the team is down, she is always engaged and in the game. Off the court, routinely volunteering for scorekeeping and is consistently the first one at practice, setting up and leading by example.
Tommy, one of the few Grade 9’s on the Junior Boys volleyball team, has been a stalwart both as libero as well as playing out. A consistent passer, positive attitude, and coachability helped guide the Jr. Boys Volleyball team through Districts to the North Island championships
Nominated by her coaching staff for positivity on the court and leadership. The Sr. Girls placed 3rd at the GW Graham Tournament and are the #1 Seed heading into North Islands, and Jesse’s leadership and consistency has helped propel the girls into that position as they inch closer to another Islands berth
Another member of the Gregory family continues to impress with their community service, as Andrew has contributed on both sides of the volleyball court this month. Not only, playing multiple positions on the court, filling in a variety of roles, but also refereeing everything from Grade 8 to Sr. Showcasing true dedication to the Spartan family
Samantha continues to make her case for Grade 8 Girls Athlete of the Year. She was impressive at the districts for Grade 8 girls helping the team finish in 3rd place overall. Her workethic took her to the basketball court where she continues to show her athleticism, work ethic and coachablility helping the girls to their first win over NDSS.
Jayden blossomed on the court for the Junior Boys Volleyball team, helping them have a successful season overall and aiding in wins in the Spectrum tournament as well at the districts. His work ethic, coachability and calm demeanor on the court will be a huge asset next year as he moves up to senior. Looking forward to seeing him in a rugby jersey in the spring
Avery showcased her leadership abilities on and off the court during volleyball season. She coached the Grade 8 girls to a District 3rd place overall finish, while also balancing that with her own playing schedule as well as being an active fundraiser and scorekeeper. Her dedication to the sport and charisma on the court is the prime example of what the athletic department strives for.
Vivian has been one of the most consistent players on the court for the Grade 8 Girls basketballl team. She helped to take the Grade 8 girls basketball team to a win vs NCS by scoring 26 points. She followed this up with great games vs Barsby where she helped the girls Spartans earn back to back wins.
Logan has continued to improve game after game this year for the Grade 8 Boys Basketball team. A master defender and rebounder, has had increased success offensively and outworks most people during practice. Consistent on the court and in the classroom, Logan has impressed representing Cedar Athletics for December
Gabby continues to impress with her work ethic and in class dedication. She has been a vital member of the Sr. Girls Basketball team helping be a part of a big win vs Chemainus in her first game as a Spartan. Been consistent with practice and continues to improve every day
Dylan, new to the athletic department, took no time impressing with his on court play. A beast on the boards, he’s used his size and vertical to dominate on the glass. He continues to work hard in practices and games learning the game of basketball. His offensive game is trending upwards and one to watch the rest of the season
Tegan, a returning member to our Sr. Girls basketball team continues to improve on the court. Her elite defense and tenacity helped lead Cedar to a convincing win vs Chemainus. She has continued to improve on her offense, and this was highlighted by her putting up 13 points versus Chemainus. Keep it up Tegan
Felix anchored the Sr. Boys Basketball team in December with multiple double digit point games including ones vs. QMS, Chemainus and CRCS. His athleticism running point has been on display and looking for him to continue his on court success as he helps to rebuild to Cedar basketball program
