Paper Airplane Competition Rules

TASK:

Design and build a paper airplane using ANY size of paper (NO drones this year). 

Airplanes must be decorated with your house colors and CREW teacher name (clearly visible). 

• Paper choice: any paper, size doesn't matter. 

• Airplanes must incorporate:

  • House Colour (if you decide to use colored paper can you add designs to create a unique airplane)

  • Crew Teacher name (no name means we don't know who to give points to)

  • Add any visual designs, or add ons such as: string, streamers, glitter, etc. 

  • Reminder: NO DRONES!!! 

Your airplane will be judged on three categories at the Halloween Assembly on October 30th

• Furthest Distance: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for furthest distance 

• Best Design: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the "best design"

  • Design Criteria: House Color is clearly defined, and Crew teacher. 

• Accuracy: One member from your CREW class gets to throw their paper airplane from the bleachers to attempt to land their paper airplane into a hula hoop in the center of the gym.  If you are successful your house will earn 1000 house points.  

How the Contest will run during Halloween Assembly:

• ANY and ALL airplanes built by Crew classes with automatically earn 200 points. 

• House Captains will gather all airplanes and student throwers from their house and meet on floor in front of their bleacher section. 

• Aesthetic Judging: Before the throwing challenges begin, the airplanes will be judged on their design (aesthetics) by houseless judges.  The top three designs will win 500 points each

• Distance Throw: One student from each CREW class will line up on the baseline of the basketball court to be judged on DISTANCE. On the count of 3, everyone will throw their paper airplane. The goal is to go as far as possible.  The top 3 win house points (First gets 1000 - Second gets 700 - Third gets 500).

• Accuracy Throw: A different student now throws for the accuracy challenge. House Captains will collect the airplane and hand off to student waiting in the bleachers. This student must throw the paper airplane and get it in the hula hoop to earn points. If you get it in the hula hoop, you will win 1000 house points.
