4/4 vs. 3/4
Sure, 4/4 has 4 beats in a measure whereas 3/4 only has three, but what does that mean to the music?
The rhythms themselves work just the same in 3/4, but how it all feels may seem completely different in 3/4 time.
So as you clap, pat, speak, or just follow with your eyes - think of that first beat in each measure as the strongest, the two other beats as weaker after-beats.
Also, remember that there are two measures being presented on the screen.
Play along with the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite.
Sing, use body percussion (snap, clap, pat, tap), or be creative and find something around the house to re-purpose as a percussive instrument!
A rhythm reading video that focuses on the syncopated rhythm of "ti ta ti", and all the ways it appears in a 4 beat measure
In this video, we take a look at dotted quarter notes (ta-i), single eighth notes (ti) and the eighth rest (Sh).
We also get to see our beats split in half, adding a new challenge to our rhythm reading!
Sixteenth Notes
In this video, we take a look at sixteenth notes (ti-ki-ti-ki) in groups of 4 and two, along with dotted quarter notes (ta-i), single eighth notes (ti), and the eighth rest (Sh), and all the rest of the simple rhythms.
This is the last of a three part series on Intermediate Rhythms.
So to make it as fun as humanly possible, we've let the 2nd Movement of Beethoven's 7th symphony inspire the harmonies in this video.
This is a cool rhythm challenge that is designed in three sections:
Easy Section - starts at 0:13
Moderate Section - starts at 2:56
Advanced Section - starts at 5:38
