The Hockey Academy is now open to students in ALL GRADES (6-8).
The Canyon Falls Hockey Skills Academy program will have approximately 50 hours of on-ice instruction, Wednesday Mornings September through June at MNP Place. Times TBA (See Ice Schedule link above)
APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED IN THE ORDER THEY ARE RECEIVED
COST: $1400.00
The Program has associated costs of:
· Ice Rental
· Transportation
· Instructor Wages
· Equipment
· Any other costs incurred to operate the program
Program Fee Payment: as outlined on application form.
Please Note: To ensure that fees do not prohibit student participation, the Board will facilitate fair and confidential procedures to allow participation by students who would otherwise be excluded. Please contact the school Principal to discuss and explore student options.
All hockey academy students are expected to be dropped off in the morning at MNP Place with enough time to be prepared to step on the ice for 8:30 am. Once the ice session is finished, students will have 20 minutes to be outside the MNP Place in order to catch the SD23 bus back to CMS.
Ice sessions are scheduled Wednesday mornings from 8:30-10 AM (unless otherwise noted) throughout the school year: September to June. Here ia a link to the Ice Session calendar: CLICK HERE
Many parents/guardians are able to pick up gear after the ice session, but students are able to store their gear and sticks in the hockey academy trailer parked at MNP Place. Mr. Greer will let you know which trailer we will be using and the lock combination. It is expected that students remove their gear and sticks from the trailer sometime by Wednesday evening. Do not leave your equipment in the trailer overnight.
Please use the school messenger app to accurately report absences when needed. Also, as I do not receive these messages, please send Mr. Greer a quick email if you know your child will be missing an ice session: anthony.greer@sd23.bc.ca
Being in the Hockey Academy takes up the first half morning choice for the entire school year: Terms 1, 2, and 3. However, Hockey Academy students are still able to take one second half morning enrichment for each term this year.
