My homework philosophy centers on the goals of meaningful practice, respect for balance in family life and connection to the school day. Students may enjoy a picture book or one chapter of a longer book, preferably one per night or a total of 5 by the end of the week. This is flexible as the family routines and schedules after school vary.
Although we are aiming for 20-30 minutes a night, I would like students to view their reading experience through the lens of the title in which they are immersed. My goal is to build lifelong habits of researching and enthusiastic learning with regards to reading. Therefore, instead of writing down minutes, we will write the title(s) of the books.
We will typically have a page of Math homework, which is a short reinforcement of the day's lesson. If a lesson takes more than one day or is a review your child will write "No HW" in the math section of their agenda.
Please click below for the Homework pages by Module.
Your child will write down the lesson number in their agenda and it can be found on the top right hand corner of each page.
