April Remote Learning

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I have been working at putting together work for your child so that they may continue to learn during our time outside of the classroom. On my website I have made updates to support you and your child. You will find that I have posted a sample of how your child’s day can be planned to complete all assignments. Module 6 has been uploaded if you need any help with the lessons. The students have their math workbook. On the remote learning page you will find daily assignments, code.org, reading a-z (RAZ KIDS) and our Engage NY module 6 in its entirety. As needed, I will continue to add websites and learning materials for your child. Please check my website on a daily basis for assignments. Good morning boys and girls. Today is Monday and you have art today. Check out Mr. Price's website to see what he has planned for you. This morning there is a Google Meet at 9:00. Please bring your review sheet if you can so I can go over it. I hope you all had a great weekend. Yesterday was my daughter's birthday so Anthony and I put a birthday sign on her lawn. She was really happy to see it when she woke up on her birthday! I also watched the Disney sing along. I had taped it. It was really good. One of my favorite songs was from Moana and Let It Go from Frozen. We are going to begin a new Module in math on Wednesday. We will begin a new Social Studies unit. We are starting Unit 14 in Fundations and Reading.

Just looking ahead we are going to start Social Studies, finish our workbook for The Beast in Ms. Rooney's Room and start Fundations. We are also starting a new module in math; Module 8. Everything will be on See Saw as you do not have a math book. We will get back to Focus and mad minute math and addition and subtraction. You are all doing a great job with See Saw. Good morning boys and girls. Today is Tuesday and you have music today. Check out Mr. Louis' website to see what he has planned for you. It was so nice to see you yesterday and to talk with you. It seems like you had a great Easter finding lots of eggs. Our Google Meet will be every Monday from 9:00-9:30 unless Mrs. Calise has a meeting. Office hours are on Wednesday from 9:00-10:30 if you need to reach me. I will also be actively monitoring SeeSaw and responding to emails.

I was able to do a google hangout with my family. They were supposed to be at my house for Easter. I was supposed to have 27 family members so you can imagine how quiet my house was yesterday.

ELA: You should have finished the book The Beast in Ms. Rooney's Room. We will now work in our workbook. Please do page 16. This activity will be on See Saw. We are going to review words that mean almost the same: synonyms. Here are some examples: smart/clever sick/ill. You will also learn words that mean the opposite: antonyms. Here are some examples: above/below beautiful/ugly fat/skinny. Don't forget to read the directions on page 16.

Science: Now that you researched different wild weather you will choose one and write a paragraph. Remember to include a topic sentence. We have been practicing topic sentences.

Your paragraph should have between 5-8 sentences. You can do more if you like! This will be your work for the week.

Have your mom and dad search for you. Maybe they can join in! Yesterday was my last day of training on See Saw. I have some more trainings next week and recordings to watch. When you take a picture of your work try to hold it a little closer so I can see it more clearly. Today is the start to your spring break. Even though we have to work during our break your work will be light until April 16th.

Good morning boys and girls. It was so great to Google Meet with you yesterday. I loved seeing all of your smiling faces. I know Mrs. Aris was so happy to see you too! I love that you know how to mute and unmute yourself. Great job! I see many of you went on to See Saw. I will be responding to you all week long. Look for my comment! I had another training so today you are going to try a video. There will also be other activities to complete. Remember to read my website first then go on to See Saw. Good morning boys and girls and Happy April Fool's Day. Anyone have an April Fool's Day joke for me? :) I'm sure it will make me laugh. Mrs. McCabe asked us this week to make a flower. You can make any kind of flower that makes you feel happy! I would love to make a sunflower because that is my favorite flower but I don't think I can draw that. :)! Math: Boys and Girls lets take a day off with math. You can finish lesson 13 and 14 on Zearn. You can finish lesson 15 if you need to. Have mom, dad, brother or sister ask you some math facts. ELA: Today boys and girls we are going to continue reading the Beast in Ms. Rooney's Room. Please read chapter 6. Here are some questions you can answer with mom or dad. I would love to hear from you what you think about question 4. You can email me what you think.

But you can explore and read what you like or explore on your IPAD for computer. On the graphic organizer please write 6 facts you learned about hurricanes.

Good morning boys and girls and today we are going to get ready to use a new platform, See Saw. It is new to me but I am totally confident you will learn how to use it and probably better than me! :) Today you don't have that much classwork because I would like you to do a tutorial. I did it already and have learned so much.

ELA: Now that you have read chapters 4-5-6 it is time to go to our workbook. You can work on this Thursday and Friday.

Page 11 is working on base words. We have done this in our Fundation lessons. Parents please remind your children what a base word is: The part of the word that cannot be broken down is called a base word, also known as a root word. The base word gives the word its basic meaning. Sometimes, base words have a prefix, which is a letter or letters added to the beginning, or a suffix, which is a letter or letters added to the end. Example: helpful: base word help.

Page 12: Contractions! We know this! don't: do not, It's: it is

Page 13-14: We also have worked on homophones: words that sound the same but have different spellings and different meanings: sea, see: I saw so many fish in the sea. I see that you caught a big fish.

Son, sun: My son went for a walk with me yesterday. The sun shines so brightly everyday.

Page 15: Busy Day For Beast. This page is going to be hard so if you have trouble with it no worries you can skip it. It deals with time and we have not done that yet. If mom or dad can help you that is great. Otherwise we will visit time later on.

Good morning boys and girls! I am so happy to see some of you went on to See Saw and posted your picture and used the microphone to tell me what you missed about school. I am working everyday to figure out how to use See Saw. I have another training today. Learning something new everyday!

Good morning boys and girls and I hope you had a good weekend. We had a nice weekend and I went for a three mile walk both days. I hope you were able to go outside to play and get some exercise. Today you have three activities in See Saw and mom or dad can show you how to submit your attendance for the day. We also have a Google Meet at 9:00. I have been having some trouble with it but we will do our best. If it doesn't work we will try on Tuesday.
